INNOVATION

We love not only dogs and cats. We help fight animal diseases that cause breeders and threats to human health.

EFFECTIVE DIAGNOSTICS

Populations of dairy cows suffer from mastis

Mastitis in cows

Our team is implementing a unique project on a global scale, the aim of which is to develop and market the world’s first rapid test to detect udder pathogens in cows.

Mastitis affects up to half of the world’s dairy cow population every year, causing huge losses, reaching 16-26 billion euros per year. Developed as part of the project, a quick and easy-to-use immunochromatographic test will allow to diagnose the microorganisms responsible for infection in just a dozen or so minutes and use targeted and effective antibiotic therapy.

Cancers diagnosed in dogs are lymphomas and leukemia

Lymphomas in dogs

Lymphomas and leukemia account for more than 30% of cancers diagnosed in dogs. Current diagnostic methods are expensive and long-lasting, so in cooperation with prof. Andrzej Rapak from the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy. Ludwik Hirszfeld PAN in Wrocław and prof. With Arkadiusz Miążek from the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław, we are introducing a simple and quick strip test to be performed in veterinary practice, which will definitely accelerate the diagnosis.

However, we do not stop only at the diagnosis – we want to use our research to create the most modern, biological anti-cancer drug for dogs.

Tests per hour in our laboratory

Biotechnology laboratory

Our laboratory is the only place in Poland and in this part of Europe where you can produce rapid diagnostic tests. We have production capacity to obtain up to 1,500 tests per hour.

We create solutions of various types – strip tests, immunochromatographic, immunofluorescent detecting not only the presence, but also the amount of various types of pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses and parasites.

NEW PROJECTS

HORSES

We develop and commercialize the world’s first rapid test, detecting herpesviruses that cause dangerous infections in horses. The test will be able to be performed by veterinarians, but also breeders in field conditions without the use of specialized equipment. We conduct research in cooperation with dr hab. Lucjan Witkowski from the Institute of Veterinary Medicine, Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

SWINE

Together with the team from BioScientia sp. z o.o., we are working on a diagnostic test that detects a wide spectrum of PRRS virus strains (reproduction and respiratory syndrome of swine), occurring in Poland. This is currently the most dangerous swine disease, causing huge losses of breeders.

DOGS

We are in the process of developing a test to detect one of the most common internal parasites in dogs – hookworm. Infection with hookworm poses a threat to the health and life of puppies, but it is also dangerous for humans. A quick diagnostic test gives a result after several minutes and does not require delivery of samples to the laboratory.

CATS

The test developed by our team for the diagnosis of coronavirus in cats will differentiate the types of coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2.

FISH

Together with BioScientia, we are launching a test that recognizes dangerous viral diseases of salmonids, namely: viral hemorrhagic sepsis (VHS) and infectious necrosis of the hematopoietic system (IHN). Early diagnosis allows quick intervention, reduces treatment costs, reduces the spread of infection and reduces breeder losses.

BEES

We are working on the commercialization of the test to detect bee infection with the spore Nosema ceranae, which contributes to the mass extinction of the honey bee. Colony Collapse Disorder, (CCD). The main features of this test, developed by the BioScientia team, are sensitivity, affordable price and ease of execution.
